Kendrix Rashad Gavin (b. 1979) is a native of Laurel, Mississippi and a proud country fella through and through.  Growing up in Mississippi, he learned, at a very early age, the values of hard-work and commitment, as well as the life-saving importance of the gifts of silence and observation.  Today he is a musician, educator, and author who seeks to change the world for the better by offering the creative gifts of his silent observations to the world.

While Kendrix, may have received his formal education in music from the wonderful institutions of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (A.A. @ Perkinston, MS) and Samford University (B.M.E. @ Birmingham, AL), he credits his family institutions, Gavin College (Mom & Dad), and The Henderson-Lee Institute of Extra Love & Special Care (His Grandparents’ Home) for providing him with the foundation that would support him through every required trial and tribulation that would mold him into the man he has become today.

His premier literary opus, Who Are You?…, is a socio-psychological analysis of the current plights of the collective “black” male in America.  Not only does he offer his perspective of the problems, but he also offers genuine guidance towards positive solutions to each of the troublesome situations that seem to burden our communities year in and year out. As a committed life-long learner, Kendrix looks forward to learning of possible solutions from other men and women who are as equally concerned about these issues.  Furthermore, he looks forward to learning as much as he possibly can from you—his brothers and sisters from around the world who will come forth and join him in his quest to Enlighten and Empower our people… from BlackLight Publishing House, with Love.
